Three witnesses give statements
Three witnesses in the case involving the murder of Special Branch of police inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman gave statements before three metropolitan magistrates yesterday.
Shahinur Islam, a security guard of the Chamelibagh building in the capital where the couple resided, stated that Oishee Rahman, the couple's daughter, left for her aunt's residence on a CNG-run three-wheeler around 8:30am on August 15 with her eight-year-old brother Ohidur Rahman and house help Khadiza Khatun Sumi.
He informed the building's caretaker of this. Ohidur returned the following day and informed that Oishee was staying back. Later, in presence of Oishee's uncle, Shahinur saw the bodies inside the bathroom in Oishee's room.
The full text of Shahinur's statement and statements of the other two -- Amzad Ali, the building's manager and caretaker, and Abdul Motaleb, another security guard, -- could not be found immediately.
Oishee showed up at Paltan Police Station 22 hours after the decomposing bodies were recovered from the residence on August 16. She confessed to the killing before a Dhaka court on August 25.
