In the humdrum, monotony of our everyday lives, sweets bring a dose of much-needed escape into a realm of happiness and comfort where nothing bad can happen. The Flourist is such an establishment that promises to cater to the insatiable sweet tooth of Dhaka city, with a bit of style and French flair.

Owner Saria Tasnim Ahmed elaborates, “I was contemplating pursuing a Masters and applying to colleges in the UK. On a whim, I applied to Le Cordon Bleu, London campus and got in. I graduated with a Diploma in French Patisserie, and also completed Basic Cuisine at the same campus. After coming back to Dhaka in October 2012 I started The Flourist as a food blog. People tried to coax me into opening a shop and I finally gave in. I converted The Flourist into an online dessert kitchen starting 14 February, 2013. And it's been running through Facebook ever since.”

Page 602Saria manages every aspect of her budding business single-handedly and The Flourist has received tremendous response. Being run by a chef hailing from Le Cordon Bleu, an elite hospitality institution that is the largest and most prestigious of its kind, The Flourist guarantees its customers the provision of gourmet sweet treats with an internationally acknowledged credibility at an affordable price.

The menu is extensive to say the least as The Flourist has many treats such as cakes, tarts, cupcakes, cheesecakes, pies, mini cupcakes, diabetic cakes, cake pops and cookies.
The flavours are interesting and varied such as nutella, white chocolate and lemon, dark chocolate and orange, cappuccino, Oreo and salted caramel.

Saria also offers unique flavours such as chai, which is light chocolate cake flavoured with black tea and iced with Swiss meringue butter cream and caramel sauce, and Banofee, a banana cake with caramel sauce and whipped cream topping. Other eternal favourites such as red velvet, vanilla, carrot, and strawberry and cream are also available.

Another stellar item on the menu is French macarons, which are delicate, light cookies sandwiched with filling. They are available in a range of flavours such as strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, lemon and so on. Sugar and almond cookies are soft and crunchy, and the cheesecakes have the right balance of tartness and sweetness.
