Medical services at Mitford Hospital which is affiliated to the college were suspended yesterday after interns and Class-IV employees of the hospital clashed, causing immense sufferings to hundreds of patients.
The clash erupted with a scuffle between some interns and employees over blood report of a patient at the pathology ward.
At least 20 people had been injured and two Class-IV employees were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
No patient could receive services from the emergency department and the blood bank. The operation theatres remained closed while the outdoor patients had to go back.
Although on-duty doctors were present in the evening, they could not provide service because of absence of the employees.
Several of the employees said they could not join the work due to fear of further untoward incident.
