Reshuffle in 15 key army posts

4 DCs withdrawn

The government has made changes to 15 important posts in the army, including the president's military secretary and commander of 46 Infantry Brigade based in Dhaka Cantonment.
The Ministry of Defence issued gazette notifications in this regard yesterday.
Maj Gen Abul Hossain, engineering corps chief at the Army Headquarters, was appointed President Abdul Hamid's military secretary. Abul Hossain would replace Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, whose next post was yet to be determined, said army sources.
Maj Gen Abdul Quadir, commandant of Bangladesh Ordnance Factories, replaced Maj Gen Abul Hossain as the chief of engineering corps.
Brig Gen Waker-uz-Zaman, commander of 46 Infantry Brigade was promoted to major general and posted as military secretary to the Army Headquarters. Additional Director General (operations) Col Mujibur Rahman of Rab was promoted to brigadier general and placed as commander of 46 Infantry Brigade.
Maj Gen Abdur Rahman, military secretary at the Army Headquarters, was placed as senior directing staff at the National Defence College.
Brig Gen Abu Musa Sharfuddin, attached to Directorate General of Forces Intelligence, was made commander of 81 Infantry Brigade in Savar Cantonment.
81 Infantry Brigade commander Brig Gen Sikder was appointed as commander of Ituri Brigade at the UN peacekeeping mission in Congo.
Ituri Brigade Commander Brig Gen Md Anisur Rahman was made additional director general of Border Guard Bangladesh.
BGB Additional Director General Brig Gen ABM Golam Mustafa was made the director of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering at the Army Headquarters.
Brig Gen Tameem Ahmed Chowdhury of Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC) was made principal of Adamjee Cantonment Public School and College.
Col Saif-ur-Rahman of ARTDOC was posted as commandant of Armoured Corps Centre & School and Col Omar Zahid of 19 Infantry Division was promoted to brigadier general and posted as commandant of Army School of Education and Administration.
Col Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury, principal of Chittagong Cantonment Public College, was promoted to brigadier general and posted as commandant of the School of Military Intelligence.
Col Anwar Sohel Siddiqui, director of National Security Intelligence, was also promoted to brigadier general and placed as commandant of President Guard Regiment. Brig Gen Sohel replaced Brig Gen Maqsudur Rahman, whose next post was yet to be fixed.
Lt Col Shamim Ahmed of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Corps was promoted to colonel and posted as commandant of 801 Army Aviation Maintenance Regiment and Lt Col Adil Choudhury was also promoted to colonel and posted at the DGFI as colonel general staff.
4 DCs WITHDRAWN
Deputy Commissioner of Noakhali Md Sohel Imam Khan, DC of Nilphamari SM Mahfuzul Haq, DC of Munshiganj Md Saiful Hasan Badal, and DC of Jamalpur Md Delwar Haider were withdrawn yesterday.
Sohel Imam was made director of Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre, Mahfuzul was placed as director of ICT directorate, Saiful became director of Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training and Delwar was transferred to the shipping ministry as a deputy secretary.
DC of Bhola Mostafizur Rahman was made DC of Noakhali, according to gazette notifications from the public administration ministry.
Additional District Magistrate of Lalmonirhat Zakir Hossain was made the DC of Bhola and director of Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training Mohammad Mohsin Chowdhury was made DC of Jamalpur.
Selim Reza, private secretary to the state minister for liberation war affairs, was made DC of Nilphamari while deputy director of local government division at Sylhet DC office Md Shahabuddin was placed as DC of Munshiganj, said the gazettes.
