Prof Fazli Ilahi new VC of IUT
Prof Dr Md Fazli Ilahi has been appointed vice-chancellor of Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Gazipur, a subsidiary organ of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
Secretary general of OIC Dr Abdelouahed Belkeziz appointed the new vice-chancellor Ilahi, who was earlier nominated by the government of Bangladesh.
He succeeded Prof Dr M Anwar Hossain, the founder Vice-Chancellor who has gone on retirement, said a press release.
Prof Fazli Ilahi completed his Ph.D. in 1977 from the University of Bradford, UK, after obtaining B.Sc. Engg (Mech) Honours from BUET. He was a Fellow of UNIDO and did post-doctoral work at the Loughsborough University of Technology, UK (1979-80).
He was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at BUET till 1986, where he also worked as System Analyst and Acting Director of Computer Centre. He was the Head of Computer Centre of IUT.
Prof Fazli Ilahi has to his credit many books and research papers.
