Mohammedan Sporting Club won the Grameenphone Super Cup 2013 by defeating Sheikh Russel KC in the tiebreaker at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The nail-biting game rolled into a 30-minute extra time at a levelled score of 1-1. Sheikh Russel's Emily scored the first goal of the match at 27 minutes while Mohammedan striker Wahed scored the equaliser at 54 minutes.
The barren extra-time pushed the game towards penalty shootout in which Mohammedan's defender Mintu netted the final goal and brought the victory.
The first GP Super Cup Champions and the previous year's runner-up Mohammedan have retained the trophy for the second time. Mohammedan winger Mobarak Hossain won the 'Man of the Match' award.
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader was present at the award giving ceremony as chief guest.
Mohammedan SC received a prize money of Tk 50 lakh.
Meanwhile, 2013-chart leader and the runner-up of the third GP Super Cup Sheikh Russel KC was awarded with Tk 20 lakh as prize money.
