The jet-set woman

Eid is just weeks away and this gives you yet another excuse to take the style-factor a notch up.

Keep in mind that festivities shall fall in the cruel days of summer and naturally this call for something new and something different, well clear of your spring wardrobe.

As of this date, trends have been overflowing with floral patterns and the spill over have had its impact on summer attires. We have donned a lot of screen prints on chiffon and georgettes, and we are doing still.

Chondona Dewan, the designer at Chondon, fills us in with further details.

“I have always been an advocate of traditional saris, which are timeless pieces. But I also have a certain affinity to floral patterns and geometric designs – these are equally stylish, evergreen, and fit for the modern woman.”

Taking cue from Dewan, we have few ideas for you to consider if you were planning on putting the modern look this Eid.

Wear a pony tail or a top knot bun with the sari. Combine it with a sleeveless or cold shoulder blouse and it would be safe to say you are garden-party ready.

Ditch the nivi drape and go for offbeat techniques which can work well with chiffon and soft muslin saris.

Did you ever see your mother wear polka dots in her college years? Did you ever want to try them on yourself? Well, good news then, because you can do that now and much more. We welcome retro styles, with polka dots, appliqués, block prints, florals, stripes, and geometric shapes.

The halter neck blouse is always IN; it has the amazing power to transform any look from drab to fabulous in the blink of an eye.

Pair your favourite retro sari with a kamarbandh, and you are good to go.

Teens and adults with young hearts, go wild over vibrant colours like hot pink and neon green. But does that mean pastels are super boring?

Of course not! Flower patterns on pastel, looks even better especially when the combination includes a chiffon or muslin sari.

Finally, if you want to look super stylish, there is no turning back from sequins. A blouse in bronze or silver sequin, contrasted with a pastel or solid coloured sari, always look amazing and transformative.

To stand out amongst the crowd this Eid and well into the remaining days of summer, just wear the regular sari, add a twist, and up the confidence. Look around and let the rest of the world notice the spark.
