Hearing adjourned till Jan 23
The hearing of arguments in the Humayun Zahir murder case was adjourned by the court of Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Rezwan Ali yesterday following a time petition by the prosecution lawyers.
The court fixed January 23 for the next hearing.
Humayun Zahir, a leading businessman and Chairman of the United Commercial Bank Ltd (UCBL) of Bangladesh, was killed on April 8, 1993 by a group of assailants on the premises of residence in Dhanmondi.
Father-in-law of Humayun Zahir filed a case with Dhanmondi police the same day accusing seven people including Akhteruzzaman Chowdhury Babu.
Babu and Abdul Matin, chargesheeted accused in the case, appeared before the court yesterday.
Of the other five accused Hedayetul Islam and Touhidul Islam are absconding while Tanmoy, Alamgir and Kauser are in jail.
