4-yr-old girl raped by step-uncle while visiting grandparents' house

A four-year-old girl has been raped allegedly by her step-uncle while visiting her grandparents' house in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah.

The incident took place on Friday night. Police found out about the incident today after she was admitted to a hospital.

No arrests have been made and the family is yet to file a case.

The accused has been absconding since the morning ever since the incident came to light.

The victim's relatives said she went to visit her grandparents with her mother on Thursday.

On Friday night, the child's step-uncle took her to a cornfield and raped her, they said. Later, the child told her family about the incident.

Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex Mostafizur Rahman Sujan said the child was sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital after primary treatment.

Jibannagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mamun Hossain Biswas said, "The child's house is in Jibannagar. However, the incident took place in the neighboring Maheshpur upazila.

The child was brought to Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex on Sunday morning.

She has been referred to Chuadanga hospital.

"If a case is filed with the police station, we will investigate and take action," he said.
