Court orders to confiscate property of fugitives
A Dhaka court ordered Keraniganj police on Thursday to confiscate the movable and immovable properties of three fugitive accused who were allegedly involved in the abduction of schoolboy Parag Mondol.
The fugitives are: Md Akash, Md Sultan and Md Wasim.
The court also directed the officer-in-charge (OC) of South Keraniganj Police Station to submit a report on the execution of confiscate order by May 15 and set the date for the next hearing.
Judge Sadikul Islam Talukder of the First Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression gave the order after the OC submitted reports on execution of arrest warrant for the fugitives.
In the statement, the police said they had earlier raided their residences to arrest the fugitive accused, but failed as they went into hiding to evade arrest.
Earlier on March 31, the court issued an arrest warrant for the fugitives.
The court also rejected the bail petition of accused Abul Kashem, now in custody, in the same case.
Six-year-old Parag Mondol was abducted on November 11 from Keraniganj.
The culprits had shot and injured his mother Lipi Rani Mondol, his sister Pinaki Mondol and their driver Nazrul Islam at the time of the abduction.
Parag was freed on November 13 after his family reportedly paid a ransom of Tk 50 lakh.
