29 brands, apparel win Superbrands' recognition
Abul Khair Steel, DBL Group, Eastern Bank, Grameenphone, IPDC Finance, Singer Bangladesh and The Daily Star have been named as the Superbrands of Bangladesh for 2018-2020.
Along with 29 brands from diverse industries, the country's apparel sector was also honoured as the Superbrands Bangladesh at a ceremony at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden hotel in Dhaka yesterday.
Superbrands is a global media communications and publishing business with presence in 88 countries. Launched in 1993, it has become the biggest success symbol for brands, said organiser Superbrands Bangladesh in a statement.
The Superbrands were selected by the brand council consisting of 12 eminent brand experts.
ACI Aerosol, ACI Salt, Bashundhara LP Gas, Bashundhara Paper Mills, Bata, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, BRB Cable Industries, Channel i, Elite Paint, Energypac Power Generation, and Epyllion Group were selected as the Superbrands.
Other brands are: Matador Group; Meghna Group of Industries; North South University; Parachute Advansed; Pride Ltd; Radio Today; Rupchanda; Shah Cement; Shanta Holdings; Shwapno and Super Fresh Drinking Water. Bata, Beximco Pharma, Channel i, Eastern Bank, Energypac, Radio Today and Rupchanda also won the accolade in the first edition in Bangladesh in 2010.
The brands which have achieved “Superbrands status” can use the Superbrands Awards Seal on their advertising materials and product packaging, according to the website of Superbrands.
It said independent research shows that more than 70 percent of consumers who see the Superbrands Award seal associated with a product or service claim to be “more likely” or “much more likely” to purchase those products or services.
Superbrands, the UK-based independent authority on branding, started its journey in 1994 in London and has been publishing a prestigious series of books, which identify and pay tribute to the strongest brands in the world.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shariful Islam, coordinator of Superbrands Bangladesh, said, “As Bangladesh steps into the next phase of progress and development, being part of global Superbrands and recognising Bangladesh's Superbrands will play a key role in our economic journey.”
Kazi M Aminul Islam, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, graced the award ceremony as the chief guest.
