The main opposition BNP has invited names for public safety committees to be formed to resist what it said killings by police and ruling party men.
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the call at a press briefing on Saturday at the party's Nayapaltan head office in the capital.
He urged the partners in the BNP-led 18-party alliance to recommend names in three days for the committees to be formed at union, city and district levels across the country.
The BNP leader also said members of any democratic party can take part in the process of forming of the safety committees.
