Yunus-Tarique meet very important ahead of polls: Shafiqul

The meeting between Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, which will be held in London tomorrow, is very important ahead of the next elections, said CA's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.
"This is going to be a very important meeting for Bangladesh ahead of the elections. You know that an election date has been announced in April. We are hoping that all issues will be discussed," he told reporters in London.
BNP and like-minded parties have been demanding the elections by December, while others including the newly-formed National Citizen Party has demanded reforms before the polls.
Shafiqul did not elaborate any agenda of the meeting, but there is speculation that bringing forward the election date will be an important topic of the meeting to be held at a London hotel between 9:00am to 11:00am.
As preparation, a BNP official met the officials of the Chief Adviser's Office in London today.
It will be a one-on-one meeting, Shafiqul said.
"If they think more people will be in the meeting, the two leaders will decide it," he added.
