Udichi President Badiur Rahman passes away at 78

Professor Badiur Rahman, central president of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi, passed away early today at the age of 78.

According to UNB report, Udichi General Secretary Amit Ranjan Dey said that Badiur Rahman was rushed to Health and Hope Hospital in Dhaka around 2:00am after falling seriously ill. He was declared dead shortly after admission.

Quoting our family members, our district correspondent from Barishal reports Badiur Rahman's body was being taken to Barishal from Dhaka after a civic tribute was paid to him at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka this morning.

Around 4:00pm, people will pay homage to him at the Udichi Barishal office. At 5:00pm, a civic homage and guard of honour will be held at Barishal Central Shaheed Minar.

He will be laid to rest after his namaz-e-janaza later in the day.

Badiur Rahman was a noted writer and editor, having worked on numerous publications, including the Satyen Sen Rachanabali. He also had a long involvement in journalism. In the 1990s, he served as Udichi's central vice-president, and in 2022, he was elected its central president.
