Sohel Hasan Galib sent to jail for 'hurting religious sentiment'

A Dhaka court has sent poet and essayist Sohel Hasan Galib to jail in connection with a General Diary (GD) filed over hurting religious sentiment.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah yesterday passed the order after the Detective Branch (DB) of police produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer to interrogate him, a sub-inspector working in the court told The Daily Star today.
The magistrate also asked the DB to submit a report before the court after looking into the matter, he said.
On Thursday, a DB team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Galib at Sanarpar under Fatullah in Narayanganj allegedly for making derogatory remarks on religion in a poem, police said.
