Roads to avoid in Dhaka today amid July Uprising anniversary events

In a bid to ensure better traffic management, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced traffic diversions in and around Manik Mia Avenue today due to daylong programmes marking the first anniversary of the July Uprising.

DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali issued a set of traffic guidelines through a public notice yesterday.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs will host a series of cultural performances and a drone show on the avenue as part of "July Uprising Day."

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will also read out the July Declaration at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 5:00pm.

The events are scheduled to run from 11:00am until midnight.

In the notice, the DMP said regular traffic will not be allowed through the section of the avenue due to the expected large gatherings and requested full cooperation from city dwellers.
