Chakaria OC Manjur withdrawn, later posted to Ukhiya

Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Manjur Kader Bhuiyan was posted to Ukhiya Police Station hours after Home Affairs Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury ordered his withdrawal yesterday over multiple allegations.
The transfer was executed through an office order signed by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Mohammad Shakil Ahmed around 10:00pm.
According to the same order, Ukhiya Police Station OC Muhammad Arif Hossain was transferred to Chakaria.
The order said the transfer was carried out in public interest.
Confirming the development, Cox's Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Jasim Uddin said, "He [Manjur Kader] was withdrawn from Chakaria and later posted to Ukhiya Police Station."
Ukhiya is considered a major police station in Cox's Bazar, according to sources.
Earlier in the morning, Home Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury instructed the deputy inspector general of police in Chattogram over the phone to withdraw OC Manjur.
The directive came after a journalist, during a views-exchange meeting in Cox's Bazar, accused the OC of torturing journalists, repressing a woman, and being involved in a murder.
The journalist questioned why no action had been taken against him despite being named as an accused in at least three cases, including one filed over the torture of a journalist.
The meeting was held at the deputy commissioner's conference room following discussions with officials of the home and agriculture ministries.
