Vegetable trader stabbed to death in Narayanganj

A vegetable trader was stabbed to death by muggers in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj this morning.

The victim is Akkas Shikder, 45, a resident of Mizmizi Batanpara, our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting Golam Mostofa, officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station.

Quoting locals, the OC said some muggers tried to rob valuables from Akkas in Painadi area early in the morning while he was going to Jatrabari wholesale market in the capital to buy vegetables.

As he tried to resist the criminals, the latter stabbed him in his chest and snatched money from him, leaving him critically injured, he said.

Locals and police took him to Narayanganj 300-Bed Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said the OC.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Narayangaj General Hospital for autopsy, he said.

A case was filed in this regard, said the police official, adding that police are trying to identify the killers and arrest them.
