Trader hacked to death

A man was hacked to death by a group of unidentified criminals in Tangail town early yesterday.

The dead is Ali Akber Bappy, 32, a trader of construction materials at Char Dighulia, said locals.

According to the victim's family members, he left home around midnight saying he would visit a local grocery store. Later, his body was found in front of a local school around 1:30am.

Abu Salam Miah, officer-in-charge of Tangail Sadar Police Station, said they recovered the body and sent it to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The body had marks of sharp injuries, he further said, adding that the reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.
