Man sent to jail over recording nude video, sexually harassing foster daughter

A Narayanganj court sent a man to jail today for allegedly recording a nude video of his 14-year-old foster daughter and sexually harassing her while she was asleep.

Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of the Bandar Police Station in Narayanganj, said locals apprehended the 40-year-old accused and handed him over to the police last night.

He was produced before a court this afternoon after the victim's foster mother filed a case against him under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the Pornography Control Act in this connection, said the OC.

Later, the court sent him to jail, added the police official.

Quoting the case statement, OC Tariqul said the victim's biological parents are residents of Sunamganj district and have no contact with her. The complainant has been raising the girl since she was one-year-old. She is currently a student at a local madrasa.

The accused allegedly undressed the girl and recorded her nude video on his mobile phone when she was asleep in the early hours of February 28. The same night, he also harassed her sexually.

The following day, the accused showed the girl the video and threatened her so that she would not reveal the matter to anyone.

However, the girl told her foster mother everything upon her return from work on March 2.

As he pleaded for forgiveness for the crime, the foster mother abstained from pursuing legal action at first.

However, the girl later disclosed the incident to a neighbour, and through them, the local community became aware.

Last night, enraged locals gathered, assaulted the accused, and handed him over to the police, OC Tariqul added.
