ICT issues arrest warrants against 2 AL leaders, 6 police officers

The International Crimes Tribunal today issued arrest warrants against two influential Awami League leaders and six top and mid ranking police officers for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during July-August mass uprising.

The names of the persons were not disclosed by the tribunal or the prosecution.

The prosecution moved four separate petitions to the tribunal seeking the issuance of the arrest warrants after the ICT investigation agency found evidence of their involvement in murders in the capital during the mass uprising.

During the incidents, the police officers in question were posted in Dhaka and now they are posted in and outside the capital, ICT Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam told journalists after the court proceedings.
