One killed as Sylhet gas cylinder explodes

A man was killed and two others were injured when a gas cylinder of a tank lorry exploded at Bangabir Road under South Surma Police Station in the city yesterday.
Shankar Dev, 42, painter of Muhib Engineering Workshop, died on the spot as a gas cylinder of a lorry of Padma Oil Company, taken to the workshop, exploded with big bang while the repair work was going on at about 5:00pm.
Two other workers of the workshop injured in the explosion were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Front part of the oil-laden lorry was also damaged in the incident.
The reason behind the explosion could not be known.
