Ex-MD of CUFL quizzed again
Former managing director Mohsin Talukder of Chittagong Urea Fertiliser Limited (CUFL) was yesterday brought for quizzing in a fresh two-day remand in connection with the Chittagong arms haul case.
Meanwhile, the National Security Intelligence (NSI) field officer Akbar Hossain was sent to jail after interrogation.
The investigators earlier failed to extract anything remarkable from the CUFL former MD in a three-day remand that ended on March 19 and such failure continued while grilling the NSI officer in remand that ended Tuesday evening.
Akbar was arrested and placed on a two-day remand on Sunday for allegedly hiring seven trucks and a crane for transportation of the ten truckloads of firearms and ammunition hauled at CUFL jetty in the early hours of April 02, 2004.
“The investigators tried to know about the people instructed the NSI officer. But, Akbar did not give any information in this regard,” said CID Chittagong Divisional Special Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohammad Muslim.
“However, he needs to be grilled more and the investigators would produce him before the court with prayer for a fresh remand soon,” he added.
The CUFL former MD along with former general manager (Admin) Enamul Haq was shown arrested on March 12 for suspected link with the offloading of the deadly consignment.
The CID investigators produced CUFL former MD and former GM (Administration) before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Abu Hannan on April 19 with a prayer for 5-day fresh remand each.
The court placed Mohsin on a two-day fresh remand and permitted the investigators to quiz Enamul, who has fallen ill in jail, said the sources.
