CPB accuses big parties of violating rules
Leaders of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) yesterday alleged that the two major political parties being favoured by the administration are violating electoral code of conduct during electioneering.
CPB leaders made the allegation at a press conference at the party office in the capital.
Party's central committee member Ruhin Hossain Prince in a written statement said the Awami League (AL) activists in Dhaka-15 constituency ripped off the posters of CPB candidate Dr Ahammad Sajedul Haque Rubel and hanged their party posters.
The AL activists also ransacked the CPB office on December 15 night, he said.
Ruhin also alleged that CPB candidate Ramnath Mahato in Natore-4 constituency was forced to postpone his election campaign following threats from local AL activists.
The party has already lodged complaints with the Election Commission but it is yet to take any action against the perpetrators, he added.
The CPB leaders also alleged that the major alliances are using money and muscle power to intimidate voters.
They urged the Election Commission to deploy election campaign observers across the country and ensure that the administration remain impartial for holding a free, fair and credible election.
CPB central committee members Mahbub Alam and Abdul Kader were also present.
