DCCI launches web portal
The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) yesterday launched its web portal jointly with Tejari FZ LLC, a Dubai-based online business portal.
Hossain Khaled, president of DCCI, said the web portal would help to expand trade and business both at home and abroad.
“With the launching of the portal, the business houses would be able to advertise their goods and services internationally which will benefit the business community of the country,” he said, while addressing the launching ceremony in Dhaka.
DCCI president said manufacturers and retailers could now be able to advertise their products and services with detailed information on product, prices, production schedules, terms and conditions for product delivery, and payment procedures, as well as, buy and sell products through the use of the web portal.
Omar Hijazi, chief executive officer of Tejari, said, “We have a mission to build an e-silk road that would connect Asian countries, including Bangladesh, with the rest of the world.”
“Bangladesh, with its emerging manufacturing sectors including RMG and pharmaceuticals and promising ICT industry, can play a vital role in the development of the e-silk road, ” he said.
Farooq Sobhan, president of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI), said business communication through the Internet would help to develop the business infrastructure of the country faster.
Tejari is the largest regional Business-to-Business online portal, currently operating in 15 countries in the Middle East.
Howaida Rabee, member of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Rizwan Bin Farouq, managing director of Tejari Bangladesh, were also present at the launching ceremony.
