Punishment to JCD, BCL cadres demanded

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD)-backed Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) yesterday demanded exemplary punishment to JCD and BCL cadres who assaulted two university correspondents on Dhaka University (DU) campus on Sunday.
In a joint statement, DU unit president and general secretary of the organisation expressed their deep concern over the incidents. They said creating obstruction to the professional work of journalists is unacceptable.
It is impossible to keep a friendly and democratic environment in the educational institutions beating journalists, leaders added.
Prothom Alo DU correspondent Anu Anwar was beaten by a group of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists in front of Kabi Jasim Uddin Hall, while Dainik Dinkal's DU correspondent Jahidur Arman was injured during the factional clash of BCL on the same day.
Two separate general diaries (GDs) have been filed with the Shahbag Police Station in these connections.
