'Remove controversial provisions'
Speakers at a discussion yesterday criticised the proposed police ordinance-2007 saying many provisions of the ordinance are inhuman.
They urged the government to increase salary and other facilities of police.
The discussion was organised by Bogra unit of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) at Bogra Circuit House auditorium.
The speakers said that the police ordinance would have to be approved during the present caretaker government. They also urged government to remove all controversial provisions from the ordinance.
They stressed the need for creating environment so that police can perform duties neutrally.
Mir Iqbal Hossein, former president of Bogra Bar Association, presided over the discussion which was addressed by Chief Judicial Magistrate Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Saifuzzaman Hero, Additional District Magistrate Ayub Hossein, Additional Police Super Muin Uddin and Assistant Police Commissioner Bashir Uddin.
