Still there is a lack of confidence among businesspeople, although the situation has slightly improved on various steps taken by the government, said newly elected FBCCI (Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry) President Annisul Huq.
“There is still a lack of confidence among businessmen, although the situation has improved a little as the government has taken various steps in this regard,” he told a function marking his takeover as the new head of the apex trade body yesterday.
At the conference room, FBCCI Administrator Syed Manzur Elahi handed over the charge of President to Annisul Huq.
FBCCI's new leader said the economy is now going through a sort of stagnation, while investment is decreasing day by day. “But this situation too is easing up due to government activities,” he said.
Annisul said the country's businessmen are passing through an extraordinary time. “We're now at a corner of a valley from where we can construct anything or we can fall down. What is needed today is nothing but unity of the businesspeople,” he said.
He made an assurance to put in his best efforts to help rejuvenate the economy and thus build a new Bangladesh.
Earlier, FBCCI Election Board Chairman Prof M Ali Ashraf officially declared the names of president, vice presidents and other members of the FBCCI Board of Directors.
Syed Manzur Elahi also spoke on the occasion and thanked all of FBCCI members and other stakeholders for their cooperation in holding the election in a free and fair manner.
