Over 12,000 Jamaat-Shibir men sued in three dists

Over 12,000 Jamaat-Shibir men have been sued for attack on law enforcers and vandalising a BGB pick-up van In Satkhira, Khulna and Dinajpur on Tuesday.
According to a correspondent from Satkhira, Seven cases were filed with five police stations of the district on Tuesday night, accusing 11,000 Jamaat-Shibir men of attacking police in different areas on the day.
At least 21 policemen were injured during the attacks. Police arrested 140 Jamaat-Shibir activists, raiding different upazilas of the district early yesterday
Our Khulna correspondent reported that police filed a case with Koyra Police Station yesterday, accusing over 1,000 Jamaat-Shibir men of assaulting police in Koyra upazila on Tuesday.
Mir Khairul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Koyra Police Station, lodged the case as complainant.
Police have so far arrested 50 Jamaat-Shibir men from different areas of the upazila in connection with the incident.
At least 50 people, including seven policemen, were injured as leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir clashed with BCL activists and law enforcers in Koyra upazila on Tuesday.
Police fired around 100 rounds of bullets and lobbed around 50 tear-gas canisters to disperse the Jamaat-Shibir men
In Dinajpur, at least 600 Jamaat-Shibir men have been sued on charge of vandalising a BGB pick-up van at Ranirbandar in Chirirbandar upazila of the district on Tuesday night, reports our correspondent.
Sub-Inspector Md Kibria filed the case with Chirirbandar police station the same night. Of the accused, 74 are identified while the rest remain unnamed. Lutfar Rahman Shah, Chirirbandar upazila Jamaat ameer, is among the accused.
None of the accused was arrested as of 5:00pm yesterday.
Our Rangpur correspondent adds: Police arrested nine activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS), student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, from a students' mess in Balapara area of Rangpur city on Tuesday night.
The arrestees are Habib, Rahman, Rinku, Abdus Salam, Sultan, Altaf, Momin, Shamsuzzoha and Maidul.
Md Shahabuddin Khalifa, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station, said police launched a drive on information that Chhatra Shibir activists gathered at Amir Ali Students' Mess at Balapara to create a chaos in the city.
They picked up nine Shibir activists from the mess while the rest managed to flee, the OC said, adding that Law enforcers also raided a Mahin Students' Mess in Darshana area of the city, but found it empty.
Moshtaque Ahmed, president of Chhatra Shibir Rangpur city unit, alleged that police raided the mess while nine Chhatra Shibir activists were sleeping. He claimed that police seized a personal computer and books of a student from the mess.
