125th founding day of a Patuakhali school

Patuakhali Government Jubilee High School, one of the oldest and renowned schools in the country, will celebrate its 125th founding anniversary with a two-day programme beginning today.
Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir will be present at the programme as chief guest, said organisers.
The programmes include colourful procession, debate competition, memorial meeting and cultural function.
Old and new students will bring out the procession from the school premises at around 8:30am today.
The district town has been well decorated on the occasion. Over 50,000 guests, including former and present students, are expected to be present at the celebrations on school premises.
The school was set up in the town in 1887 during the Queen Victoria's Golden jubilee festival.
A group of young men began the activities of the school 'Patuakhali Entrance School (up to class eight)' at a small house at the launch ghat in the town.
In 1952, this school enlisted in Uplift Scheme. In 1962 it enlisted in Maltire Tarol Scheme. On 15th November, 1968 this school had been nationalized and name the school as 'Patuakhali Govt Jubilee High school' in government level.
Minister Shahjahan Mia, Justice Nizamul Haque Nasim and Additional Deputy Attorney General MK Rahman, among others, were the students of the school, said acting headmaster Md Siddiqur Rahman.
