Dollar gains
The dollar edged up against the yen and euro in Asian trade on Monday as a report of a rescue plan for a top US bond insurer reassured the market following recent turmoil, dealers said.
The dollar picked up in late trade after an initial subdued reaction to the reported bailout for Ambac, one of the largest bond insurers in the United States.
The dollar edged up to 107.39 yen in Tokyo afternoon trade compared with 107.14 late Friday in New York.
The euro slipped to 1.4814 dollars from 1.4826 while rising to 159.09 yen from 158.90.
