The Padma river eroded at least seven kilometres of five villages in Shara union at Ishwardi upazila of Pabna since Thursday morning.
Residents of the affected villages -- Komorpur, Arambaria, Shekher char, Gopalpur and Majhdiar -- have started shifting their homes.
Shara Union Parishad Chairman Md Jarjis Hossain said at least 10 houses were swept away while another 20 institutions, including mosques, schools, and over 400 houses of 10 villages were under threat.
He sought immediate government assistance for the affected.
