Math Olympiad team leaves for Argentina tonight

A five-member Bangladesh National Mathematical Team will leave the country for Argentina tonight to compete in the 53rd International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
The team members are Dhananjoy Biswas of Chittagong College, Mirza Md Tanzim Sharif of Notre Dame College, Sourav Das of Dhaka College, Nur Muhammad Shafiullah of Dhaka College, and Adib Hasan of Mymensingh Zila School.
Bangladesh is taking part in the event for the eighth time, said noted academician Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury, also the president of the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee (BMOC), at a press conference organised by the BMOC in the capital's Ruposhi Bangla Hotel yesterday.
He said the international competition has already begun at Mar del Plata in Argentina on July 4. But the formal inauguration would be held on July 9. The competition would conclude on July 16.
Bangladesh Math Olympiad Coach Dr Mahbub Majumder will lead the team while Munir Hasan, general secretary of the Olympiad, will lead as deputy team leader.
The daily Prothom Alo Joint Editor Abdul Quayyum, Dutch-Banagla Bank Deputy Managing Director Saidul Hasan, Prof AFM Khodadad Khan and Prof Kaikobad, also spoke on the occasion.
