Razia Matin no more

Renowned educationist Prof Razia Matin, wife of former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor late Prof Abdul Matin Chowdhury, died of old-age complications at Shikdar Medical College Hospital in the capital yesterday at the age of 87.
Prof Razia, former principal of Dhaka University Laboratory School and College and presidium member of Bangabandhu Parishad, left behind her three sons and one daughter to mourn her death.
She will be laid to eternal rest in Banani Graveyard after a namaz-e-janaza at Azad Mosque of Banani.
The people from all walks of life including leaders of different political parties, former colleagues, friends and admires visited her Banani residence.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique condoled her death.
In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to members of the bereaved family.
Prof Arefin said the nation has lost an intellectual and a social worker, who dedicated her whole life to the welfare of mankind. A woman of an extra-ordinary quality, Prof Razia was also a guardian of new generation, he added.
Meanwhile, general secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad Dr S A Malek expressed his deep shock and sorrow at her death.
