Sajid admits to gambling

The Pakistani national who was detained in suspicion of match-fixing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), yesterday admitted before a Dhaka court that he along with two compatriots were involved in betting during the T20 tournament.
Pakistani citizen Sajid Khan, handed over to police on Sunday following his dubious activities in and around the cricket competition in Dhaka and Chittagong, was produced before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Shamima Parvin where he made the confession under section 164.
Mainul Islam, an inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police and the investigating officer in the case, said, Sajid said he and his accomplice Asif Ali came to Dhaka on February 10 and Asif already left Dhaka on Friday. Their other collaborator is Wahed Samad who arranged gamblers in Pakistan and in this way they collected six lakh rupee.
The DB sources said they were now investigating whether Sajid and his accomplices had any involvement with match-fixing.
