'Robbers' stab crew at port

A Croatian officer of a Malta-flagged cargo ship was stabbed by suspected robbers at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port early yesterday.
The injured, Marko Skrobonja, 30, is the second officer of MV Hana, said Mizanur Rahman, manager of the vessel owners' local agent SS Services.
The unidentified gang might have boarded the ship for robbery, Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Syed Farhad Uddin Ahmad said.
Sources said Marko was stabbed in the head when he tried to resist the gang that got on the vessel at “A” anchorage around 3:00am.
He was rushed to two private clinics consecutively, which refused to treat him fearing police hassles, Mizanur said.
Finally, the critically wounded Marko was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital around 11:00am, he added.
MV Hana arrived at the port on January 17, carrying over 40,000 tonnes of cement clinker.
