Classical Music Fest in Rajshahi ends

A two-day classical music festival in Rajshahi ended last Friday.
Noted flutist Pandit Shibnath Das of Rajshahi and tabla player Pandit Bijon Kumar Chowdhury of Chittagong were accorded a reception at the festival.
Hindol Shangskritik Goshthi of Rajshahi organised the festival at Rajshahi Association building. The festival showcased a number of accomplished artistes from different parts of the country.
The festival began on Thursday evening with a choral rendition of Raga Malkauns by artistes of Hindol, and continued till the next morning with a brief interval.
Invited artistes from Rajshahi and other parts of the country presented classical recitals in keeping with the various phases of the night.
Bipul Kumar of Naogaon performed Raga Bageshri; Sumona Bardhan rendered Raga Kalavati; Tapash Dutta sang Raga Yug and ghazal, while Pandit Shibnath Das of Rajshahi presented Raga Hansa Dhani and dhun on his flute.
Shaila Tasnim of Rajshahi performed a khayal on Raga Saraswati and a bhajan; Swarnamoy Chakraborty of Chittagong presented Marwa; Satyajeet Chakraborty of Dhaka performed Raga Darbari on his sitar; Harun-ur-Rashid offered Raga Lalit and Ashit Kumar Dey performed Raga Basantkumari till the festival ended on Friday morning.
Jatan Kumar Paul, Uttam Kumar Haldar of Rajshahi, Badal Chowdhury, Swarup Hossain and Sabuj Ahmed of Dhaka, Bijon Kumar Chowdhury of Chittagong played various musical instruments during the festival.
