Six hurt in BCL infighting at RU
At least six persons, including five activists of Rajshahi University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), were injured in a clash between two factions of BCL on the campus yesterday.
Police arrested three BCL activists-Palash and Tapu Ahmed, masters students of Public Administration department and Abdur Rouf, a masters student of Islamic History department.
The clash erupted as a group of BCL activist led by Palash assaulted a member of Syedpur Thana Samittee (a committee of students hailing from Syedpur) when they were holding a meeting on the campus.
Soon the samity members called Takim Ahmed, a close aide of BCL RU unit general secretary Abu Hossain.
Palash group beat up Takim as Takim reached there and protested Palash.
Later, supporters of Abu Hossain rushed to the scene, chased Palash and his associates and beat up them.
Police were deployed on the campus to avoid any untoward incident.
