Nine held with drugs

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested nine drug peddlers with contraband drugs worth around Tk 2.20 lakh in separate drives from different places in the port city on Wednesday night.
The arrestees are Nurul Kabir, Nurul Islam, Rana, Siraj, Abdul Karim, Pintu Barua, Talab Chakrabarty, Ujjal Dutta, and Jahangir Hossain.
Rab sources said members of Rab-7 conducted a drive at the Three Star Residential Hotel in Najirpool area of Double Mooring around 8:30pm and arrested Nurul Kabir with 500 pieces of Yaba worth about Tk 2 lakh.
In another drive, the same Rab team raided at the house of one Shadhon Babu on Kaptai Road area of Chandgaon around 10:30pm and arrested Islam, Rana, Siraj, Karim, Pintu, Talab, Ujjal and Jahangir with 100 litres of locally processed wine worth about Tk 20,000.
