Road accidents kill 4, injure 36
Four people were killed and 36 others injured in separate road accidents in Brahmanbaria, Savar, Panchagarh and Rajbari on Thursday night and yesterday.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports: Two people were killed and 35 injured when a bus overturned on the road in Ashuganj upazila in Brahmanbaria yesterday.
One of the deceased Md Musharaf Hossain, 45, was a resident of Kalihati upazila in Tangail. The identity of the other victim could not be known immidiately.
Police said the accident took place when the Sylhet-bound bus of Banasree Paribahan flipped around 5:30am while the driver lost his control over the steering.
The injured passengers were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital, Ashuganj Noor Medical and Shurab Medical Hospital.
JU correspondent says: A student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) and his wife were injured when their motorcycle lost control and hit the roadside divider in the university gate area on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar yesterday.
The injured are Asaduzzaman Akash, a student of Drama and Dramatics department and his wife Nahida Jaman Ritu.
They were sent to Enam Medical College Hospital after receiving primary treatment from university medical centre.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent adds: One man was killed on the spot when a Tunirhat-bound truck hit him from behind on the Panchagarh-Tunirhat road at Baniapotti in Panchagarh on Thursday night.
The deceased is Toufiq Elahi, 28, son of Awlad Hossain, of Rajnagar village of Sadar upazila.
Agitating local people caught the driver and vandalised the truck.
Police charged batons on agitating people to control the situation that erupted a clash between police and locals, leaving 10 people injured including five policemen.
Our Manikganj correspondent says: A driver of a three-wheeler (locally known as nosimon) succumbed to his injuries at Rajbari Sadar Hospital yesterday after he was injured as the three-wheeler overturned while the driver lost his control over the steering on the Rajbari-Kushtia road in Mrigi area of Pangsha upazila in Rajbari on Thursday night.
The driver is identified as Rajon Sardar, son of Khalek Sardar, of Kalsha village of Pangsha.
