The recent announcement that “Ke Hotey Chay Kotipoti”, Bangla version of the mega-popular game show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, will soon go on air on Desh TV has already created a buzz in the country. This general knowledge-testing programme has been aired so far in more than a 100 countries.
On May 9, 2011 the announcement was made, revealing entrepreneur and media personality Anisul Haque as the host of “Ke Hote Chay Kotipoti”.
Unfortunately Haque has decided to step down from the duties.
“I have been rehearsing long and hard for this TV show. But due to eye problems I can no longer be a part of this grand event. I wish the show the very best,” said Haque.
Haque has consulted several doctors who said that he needs an operation. “After the operation, I will need to rest for six to eight weeks. The show begins in two weeks,” he said.
“They [the producers] have invited me to host the next season of the show when my eyes will be okay,” he added.
Replacing him, as the anchor of the show, will be noted cultural personality Asaduzzaman Noor. The announcement was made at a press conference yesterday.
“This is totally unexpected. I hope that I'll be able to live up to the expectations of the viewers, everyone working behind the scenes and last but not the least, Anisul Haque,” said Noor.
The programme has been brought to Bangladesh by Robi, Delta Bay, Red Dot and Desh TV.
