Traders fined Tk 1.16 lakh for consumer rights breach
Ten different hotels, shops, and restaurants in Chittagong city were fined Tk 1.16 lakh for violating consumers' rights.
A mobile court led by Abdul Baten, director of the Directorate of Consumers' Rights, awarded the penalty.
BSTI, the Directorate of Fish, and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-7) assisted the team in the drive conducted in Kazir Dewri Bazar.
The rights violation includes sale of expired, sour, and adulterated food items and other goods including medicines.
Jalal's shop was fined Tk 6,000; Masud's Store Tk 10,000; Rubel Store Tk 7,000; Khan Departmental Store Tk 15,000; Hossain Store Tk 15,000; Cheman Store Tk 500; Al-Madina General Store Tk 8,000; Ekra Medicine Centre Tk 15,000; Cafe Laila Tk 10,000; and Zaman hotel and Biriani House Tk 30,000.
