Hockey team lose first tie in Germany
Bangladesh hockey players who are touring Germany played their first practice match against a Second Division side on Tuesday after arriving in Bonn the previous day, said a letter sent by coach Gerhard Peter Rach yesterday.
Rach, who took 17 of his best players for giving them some experience of the European game, experimented with the side on the first day of practice. The match was divided into three parts, 30 minutes each, and the Bangladesh team ended up losing each part.
Bangladesh team will play the same side in two weeks time, and Rach is optimistic that given the time and training, they can exact revenge on them.
Rach especially mentioned Rana, Nilloy, Pintu and Nannu's name to have performed well on the field.
The boys will have physical fitness training from next week under a newly-appointed fitness coach, Klaus Brosoeus, and they will play three more practice matches in the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Hockey Federation yesterday curtailed a preliminary camp to 18 through an open trial for the national team who will be training for the time and will be joined by those in Germany ahead of the Asian Games in November.
