2 bullet-hit on Sylhet border
Two Bangladeshi nationals sustained bullet wounds as Indian Khasias intruded into the country yesterday and opened fire on stone miners at Bichhnakandi borders in Gowainghat upazila.
Injured Lilu Miah, 30, son of Abul Quashem and Nasir Uddin, 23, son of Wahab Ali, of Bogaiya Muslimpara village, were admitted to Gowainghat upazila health complex, police said.
Sources said a gang of 30 Indian Khasia tribesmen intruded into Bangladesh around 10:00am and asked them to stop collecting stone from the quarry. The stone collecting began there yesterday after an interruption of about two weeks.
The miners, however, declined to stop stone collection after which the Indians opened fire at them, added the sources.
