HC asks Moulvibazar DC to appear in court Apr 26

The High Court (HC) yesterday directed deputy commissioner (DC) of Moulvibazar Md Mafizul Islam to appear before this court on April 26 in connection with a contempt of court petition against him.
The HC bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Md Delwar Hossain also issued a rule upon the DC to explain on April 26 why contempt of court proceedings should not be drawn against him for defying its orders.
Hasin Afroz Chowdhury, mayor of Kamlaganj Pourasava in Moulvibazar, recently filed the contempt of court petition, as the DC did not comply with the HC orders.
The HC on November 2 last year, and on February 18 this year in separate orders directed the DC of Moulvibazar and others concerned to allow the petitioner to discharge function as mayor of the pourasava.
Advocate SM Rezaul Karim appeared for the petitioner.
