Marking the arrival of the Bengali month Phalgun, cultural group Srijon held its monthly musical programme "Pheley Asha Din-er Bangla Gaan-er Ashor" at Sufia Kamal Auditorium, National Museum on February 28.
This was the 90th programme by the organisation. Srijon has been holding these programmes regularly to provide upcoming artistes with a platform and to promote classic Bangla songs.
The programme began with a performance by upcoming singer Bijon Chandra Mistry. Songs performed by Bijon included "Amaye Gethey Dao Na Mago Ekta Polash Phul-er Mala" and "Dokhina Batash Aaji Bohey Mridru Mondey". Bijon currently teaches at Chhayanaut.
Talking about the event, the artiste said, "Srijon's musical programme provides a much-needed platform for young singers. It is certainly a positive initiative to promote both the songs and the singers."
Among others, Shaheen Khan, Chompa Banik, Rumana Islam, Timir Nandi and Biman Bishwas performed at the programme.
