Oil above $73
Oil prices rose towards 74 dollars on Tuesday, driven by prospects of improved demand as the economy recovers and as cold weather hits the United States earlier than expected, analysts said.
New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in November climbed 35 cents to 73.62 dollars a barrel.
Brent North Sea crude for November delivery gained 51 cents to 71.87 dollars a barrel in early London trade.
