Woman stabbed to death
A woman was stabbed to death by her husband's nephew at her residence in the city's Hazaribagh yesterday.
The victim identified as Hazera Begum, 25, wife of Abul Kalam, a Saudi expatriate, was a resident of Hazaribagh.
Sources said Hazera and his husband's nephew Sohel, 20, locked into an altercation over a trifling matter around 1:15pm at her residence in the area.
At one stage, Sohel stabbed the victim indiscriminately, leaving her critically injured.
She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared her dead at around 2:00pm.
Hazera and Sohel used to run a tailoring business at her residence, Panna Akhter, younger sister of the victim, said, adding that Sohel, who was an employee of a cloth store at New Market, used to help Hazera get customers from the store.
Panna said Sohel did not pay Hazera even after he had received money from customers during the Eid and Puja festivals that ensued the altercation.
Hazaribagh police arrested the killer and another woman in this regard.
