Rab men shoot 3 robbers in counter attack

Three alleged robbers were injured in a fight with Rab members on Humayun Road in the capital's Mohammadpur yesterday.
Injured Shakil, 21, Rana, 27, and Faruque, 23, of Mohammadpur were admitted to Pongu Hospital with bullet wounds in hands and legs.
Sources said Rab-2 received information that a gang was preparing to commit a crime near block-B in the area.
Acting on it, a Rab-2 patrol team rushed to the spot at about 12:30am. When they challenged a group of 10 to 12, they suddenly swooped on the Rab members with sharp weapons prompting the law enforcers to fire shots at them.
The Rab members arrested the three while their cohorts managed to escape.
They recovered two machetes and a knife from the scene.
