Tania murder trial begins

The trial of Tahmina Sharmin Tania killing case began here yesterday.
On the first day of the trial the court received evidence from plaintiff Rayhan Gafur, also youngest brother of Tania.
There are 37 witnesses including a magistrate, medical officer, and investigation Officer (IO) in the case.
Tahmina Sharmin Tania, 28, of Taltala in Dhaka, who was an assistant teacher of Shaheed Babul Academy in Dhaka, was killed allegedly by her husband Zahid Hasan Jewel, 28, and two hired killers at Rajapara in Kalapara on January 30 this year.

The couple with their 10-month-old son Zaymon Al Zahid had come to visit Kuakata sea beach in a private car from Dhaka two days before the incident, police said, adding that when they were returning to Dhaka, Jewel killed his wife Tania with the help of two hired killers at Rajapara in Kalapara upazila.
After the killing, the hired killers, Miznur Rahman and Shahin Alam, were able to flee to Dhaka while police arrested Jewel from the spot. Son Zaymon was with him. Jewel made confession under Section 164 to the magistrate's court and gave addresses of two killers to police.
Tania's brother Rayhan filed a murder case with Kalapara Police Station on January 31.
Following Jewel's statement, Kalapara police with the help of Rab arrested Mizanur Rahman, 38, and Shahin Alam, 36, of Khilgaon in Dhaka.
Mizanur and Shahin made confession under Section 164 to Kalapara Magistrate's Court.
Investigation officer of the case, Sub-inspector of Kalapara Police Station Faruq, submitted the charge sheet against Jewel, Mizanur, and Shahin.
